Stiles Farm Foundation Hosts Annual Field Day
Written by Staff Tuesday, 24 June 2008
The Stiles Farm Foundation held its 46th Annual Field Day on Tuesday, June 17. The event allows farmers, ranchers, and representatives within the agricultural industry to meet and share both ideas and best practices. The first Stiles Farm Foundation Field Day was in 1963, and it has been an annual event ever since - with the exception of 1996, when it was cancelled due to draught.
Stiles Farm is located just east of Taylor, at the corner of US 79 and FM 1063 in Thrall. The foundation was established in 1961, and the farm serves as experimental grounds to try out new crops and new farming methods. There are also livestock and catfish farming operations on the farm’s approximately 2,800 acres. The Stiles Farm Foundation is overseen by the Texas A&M Board of Directors and is managed by the Texas Cooperative Extension and the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station.
