The road now known as US 183 has been central to Cedar Park from the first founders to the wide variety of businesses that have served the area for many years. Bell Boulevard, as the road is commonly known, is named for Kenneth E. Bell, the first mayor of Cedar Park, who was elected in 1973.

Patrick Kofron took over Nationwide Insurance & Financial Services two years ago and has been an agent since 1998.

Dr. Bing Yee has operated Cedar Park Family Practice since 1999.

Fancy Nails offers manicures, pedicures and other services.

Barber Cuts offers haircuts for men and boys. Owner Chuck Hawkins opened it July 1, 2002, and has 48 years of experience. No appointment is necessary; closed Sunday and Monday.

The District Skateboard Supply opened Feb. 1 and offers a selection of skateboards, clothing, shoes and accessories. Owner Jeremy Lopez previously had stores in California and has been involved with the industry since 1992.

Hearing Aid Express is a family owned business based out of the Houston area. The office opened July 21 and offers hearing aids and free screenings.

Peak Performance Martial Arts, formerly DragonHeart Karate, has been in Cedar Park for 12 years. The studio offers traditional and mixed martial arts, a leadership academy for adults and children, parent coaching, after-school programs and summer camps. Visit www.peakperformancemartialarts.com.

Don and Anna Johndrow opened ACE Hardware in January 2007. The 15,000 sq. ft. store offers Notary Public services and a unique gift section named BanAnna’s Gifts and Gourmet. The locally owned store chooses the ACE products best suited to local needs.

Now in its second year of operation, Willow Tree Dance Center offers a Christian approach to dance with classes for ages 2-adult. Advanced Tech Automotive has served the Cedar Park area since 1991. The shop services most vehicles and performs scheduled maintenance and diagnostics.

24 Loan Star Title Loans opened in July offering cash loans on automobile titles.

Allstate Insurance Company offers residential and commercial insurance services. Agent Drew Espinosa has been in Cedar Park for seven years and has worked with Allstate for 26 years.

In June, Star Dancers Studio opened its first permanent location in the 11 years that it has served the community. Founded in Round Rock, the studio focused primarily on competitive teams and recently added dance classes. Classes are for ages 3-teen and include ballet, jazz, hip hop and leaps and turns. Specialty Compounding, a division of Peoples Rx, has been open for one year and creates specialty prescriptions for doctors.

Smokey Denmark is relocating from its current facility in downtown Austin to this larger 12-acre site. The owners say they hope to break ground in early 2009. The site will include a Texas-style barbecue restaurant and the relocation of the current production facility for premium quality smoked meats including brisket, sausage and ribs. Cedar Park Cemetery, also known as Cluck Family Cemetery, is a 4-acre, privately owned cemetery. George and Hattie Cluck, one of the founding families of Cedar Park, buried one of their children at this location in 1901 and donated the original 1-acre lot. The cemetery was donated by the Cluck family to the Central Texas Children’s Home, which now maintains the cemetery, sells plots and uses the proceeds to benefit the children’s home. Cedar Park Fire Station #1 will be rebuilt with a tentative spring 2010 starting date followed by a 12-month construction period. The station was originally built in 1972 by volunteer firefighters, and a second section was added in 1992. The original station will be torn down, and the new 7,500 sq. ft. station with three stories and three apparatus bays will be built on the same property.
