The Railyard Grill a popular stop for locals
Railyard Grill owner Richard Miles’ gracious greeting at our table to ask how we were doing was a reminder of a time gone by – when days were less hurried and travel meant the journey as well as the destination.
It’s this friendly attention to the customer that has made this restaurant at the corner of the Railyard Shopping Center a popular stop for locals for the last two and a half years.

In this relaxed and friendly atmosphere we set our meal in motion by reviewing the railroad-themed menu beginning with the “Layin’ Tracks” appetizer menu.
The Sampler #1 fit the bill with deep-fried mozzarella sticks, jalapeno pepper poppers, and rail spikes, a combination of beef-cheese-jalapeno fingers fried to a golden brown. The assortment was accompanied with a choice of homemade ranch dressing or chipotle-mayo dipping sauce. (5.99)
With our appetites on track, we placed our dinner orders. The Engineer’s Burger (6.59) was a 1/3-lb. all-beef burger fully dressed with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles complimented with an ample portion of seasoned curly fries.
I enjoyed the Conductor’s Choice, a gooey and yummy ¼-lb. fried beef weiner wrapped in bacon on a grilled hoagie with red onion, jalapenos, chili, and cheese. (6.89)
The Grilled Cajun Chicken sandwich was especially tasty with a tender, grilled Cajun spiced chicken breast topped with jalapeno jack cheese and served on a toasted bun along with the freshest lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. (6.99)
“The End of the Line,” the dessert menu, included a variety of sweet delights. We all agreed on the fried cheesecake, from the Cheesecake Factory, topped with strawberry syrup, (4.89) and a bowl of peach cobbler with a serving of vanilla ice cream. (4.25)
Just as the mural of the Southern Pacific 786 steam engine boldly bursts through the wall of the grill, the flavors we experienced were equally bold. Miles encourages everyone to give the Railyard Grill a try.
“The fun atmosphere and good food should make everyone feel right at home,” he told us.
We couldn’t agree more.
