General Manager's Note - November 2006

Christmas is right around the corner with only five weeks left to shop. According to a study conducted by ABC News, the average household spends approximately $1,000 on Christmas gifts.
One of the goals of this newspaper is to offer readers ways to keep as many of those dollars in the local economy as possible. For this reason, we’ve supplied a holiday shopping guide that lists locally-owned retail businesses in Cedar Park and Leander.
Along with a list of stores, you’ll find profiles of a few of the shops, as well as photos from the shelves of others, so you’ll have an idea of what to expect when you step inside. We bet you’ll find that perfect gift without having to fight the usual holiday crowds and traffic.
Another tool we’ve inserted in this issue is our annual Healthcare Directory. The directory provides a comprehensive listing of local family medicine and internal medicine doctors, pediatricians and OB/Gynecologists in Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown and North Austin. Whether you need a pediatrician close to home, or an internist near your place of employment, we hope the directory will assist in locating a doctor that meets your needs.
The 4A corporation was in the spotlight leading up to election day, when Cedar Park residents voted to allow the 4A corporation the ability to use sales tax dollars to fund an entertainment complex.
In one of our front page stories, we have looked into the 4A and 4B corporations and explained their roles in the development of Cedar Park.
On a final note, we at Community Impact wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving. When my sister comes in from California this time of year, we usually take her on the annual tour of her hometown to show her all the new and exciting changes that were made since her last visit. Between the progress on the toll roads, the hospital, and the new H-E-B Plus, this is sure to be the best tour yet.
