General Manager's Note- April 2006

In an area where traffic cones have become a sign of the times, and concrete blankets the ground where the mighty oak and cedar once stood, it is evident that the expected boom in development in Leander and Cedar Park is well underway. This growth, though difficult at times to digest, brings with it the excitement of opportunity.
New retail centers bring a myriad of options for shoppers. New roadways offer alternatives to the routes we travel each day. New hospitals and medical offices expand our options for quality healthcare.
It becomes increasingly important that the local residents stay tuned into what is going on around them. It also becomes imperative for business owners to have access to an effective vehicle for delivering their message to local consumers.
Community Impact was created in response to these needs.
Launched in Round Rock and Pflugerville last year, our publication has experienced tremendous success and the reason is simple: we have combined the “power of the press” with the effectiveness of direct mail distribution.
When the publisher approached me with the idea of bringing this winning combination to Leander and Cedar Park, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. Having grown up in Leander, I have witnessed the changes of one of the fastest growing communities in the state.
The mission of Community Impact is to keep residents and business owners connected with their community and with the issues that impact their quality of life.
In addition to the top stories, each month we will provide profiles of prominent local leaders, a restaurant review, a residential real estate report, and maps highlighting local events, store openings, and other key pieces of information. We will also feature two small businesses, one from each city, to help spread the word on the history of their establishment and the products and services they offer.
Our content is local, and we hope you will find our coverage informative and useful. Perhaps best of all, our publication is free, distributed monthly via U.S. mail to every home, apartment and business in Leander and Cedar Park.
We are excited to bring our concept to these two great cities, and look forward to receiving your input. I encourage you to contact me with comments or suggestions via email at clove@impactnewspaper.com, or by telephone at 989-6808. After all, you’re why we’re here.
