Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to contact us.

One of my favorite messages was from Jeanette Cacciola who wrote, “I am very impressed with Community Impact Newspaper. It is a high quality publication devoted to a growing part of Central Texas. I was very happy to see your focus on businesses in the area, and I plan to visit Zora’s now that I know more about it. I’ve driven past it regularly over the last several months.”

This response is an indication that we are accomplishing an important part of our mission: to encourage local spending by spreading the word about the small businesses that operate in Leander and Cedar Park.

When my family moved to Leander over 20 years ago, FM 1431 was a two-lane road with virtually no residential or commercial development. It has been incredible to watch national retail, restaurant, and hotel chains break ground along this stretch of highway. These businesses not only diversify the tax base, but also diversify our options as consumers.

While we welcome these large businesses into our economy, it becomes increasingly important that consumers continue to support the unique, locally owned businesses that uphold the charm of our hometowns. Their founders discovered a need in this community for the goods and services they offer. They work hard to serve us, and they deserve our support.

We are excited to hear plans for a downtown Cedar Park, and to learn of the Transit-oriented development project that will put Leander on the forefront of urban development. Though you might already be familiar with these projects, our goal in this issue is to provide a “one stop shop” for information, and to keep the momentum built around these important developments.

I always welcome your input, and I encourage you to contact me with story ideas. I can be reached at 989-6808 or by email at clove@impactnewspaper.com. You can also check us out online at www.impactnewspaper.com.
