Photo of Laura WickettFebruary is a month of introductions. It all started with the new neighbors that moved in behind my house. We’ve built up a community in our neighborhood of some really great people.

Neighborhoods are the centerpiece of our community experience. Much like meeting new neighbors, the Ranch at Cypress Creek MUD is in the process of becoming part of the City of Cedar Park. We bring you details of the origination and annexation of MUDs.

The trend continues with more introductions in our community. Soon, Leander will welcome its second large-scale retail project: Gateway at Leander. The city landscape is evolving with the new growth and development, and residents will have more options closer to home.

While no stranger to the area and its needs, we introduce to you this month Bret Champion, the new superintendent of Leander Independent School District. As of Feb. 1, Champion officially stepped into his new role and is making the rounds of the schools and community to introduce himself to all those in the school system.

LISD also opens its fourth high school this year. We have prepared a feature that explains the school’s zoning, mascot and staff, including an interview with the principal, Nancy Scott.

Finally, we are excited to introduce our readers to Connected, a comprehensive community guide. This annual publication will arrive as an additional issue of local information on Feb. 29. You will want to keep this one by your phone.

Go ahead, get introduced to this new issue of Community Impact!
