Leander ISDLearning the ROPES of Leadership is an exciting and challenging summer camp aimed at helping students discover what it takes to become a leader.

The camps will offer students training in effective communication, problem solving, goal setting and peer pressure in fun and thrilling ways. Participants will gain an edge to help them better serve their school, their community and themselves. Eighth through tenth grade students will have the opportunity to return to assist the fifth through seventh graders in a second camp.

"Learning the ROPES of Leadership is a different type of summer camp that offers students an opportunity to develop leadership skills," said Mary Ann Kluga, Substance Abuse Coordinator for LISD.

The camp is open to any LISD student entering the fifth through tenth grades in the fall of 2008. The cost is $60 per camper. Payment is due at the time of registration, and the last day to register is June 5. There are only 50 spaces available each week, so early registration is encouraged. Camp for grades 8-10 will be held June 16-18, while the camp for grades 5-7 will be held June 23-25. The camp will be held at Cedar Park High School, 2150 Cypress Creek Road.

For more information, or to register, contact Mary Ann Kluga at 434-7098, ext. 11615, or at MaryAnn.Kluga@leanderisd.org.
