1 . Park and Ride Update

Due to weather delays, Capital Metro’s Leander Park and Ride will not open this month, but rather later this spring in either March or April. Located at the intersection of US 183 and FM 2243, the new facility will allow commuters to park their cars in accessible locations near their home and choose between multiple routes into downtown Austin. The Park and Ride will service Routes 983, 986 and 987. For questions about the delay or for more information, call 474-1200 or visit www.capmetro.com.

2. Toll Road Grand Opening

The US 183A tollroad grand opening will be Saturday, March 3 at the Park Street Main Toll Plaza on US 183A south of FM 1431. A community festival will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the grand opening ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. For information about the tollroad, visit www.183a.com.

3. New Fashion & Bridal Store

Lucy’s Fashion & Bridal opened Feb. 1 on US 183 next to Center Stage. The store carries bridesmaids’ dresses, tuxedos, and clothing for first communions, quinciañeras, baptisms, proms and accessories for all occasions. For more information, visit the store at 2403 US 183, Ste.102 or call 259-4220.

4. Leander TOD Update

The Dallas development group, WY Atlantis, purchased 342 acres and is investing $50 million in Leander’s transit-oriented development district. The company will break ground this summer and has not determined what types of businesses will go into the commercial property. The Villages of Messina, a residential neighborhood, is also being developed with homes ranging from $200 - $400,000. WY Atlantis plans to buy more property across from the neighborhood to build an industrial park.

5. Tae Kwon Do Plus

Brendan and Mandy Looney opened Tae Kwon Do Plus last month at 2403 US 183, Ste.104. The new facility offers Tae Kwon Do self defense lessons for the entire family, with discounts for multiple family members. Call 809-7689 for more information.

First Title Company Office

Leander will welcome its first title company office this year. Gracy Title is the first and oldest title company in Central Texas and currently has ten locations. Kim Smyth will be the branch manager and escrow officer at the new location, bringing more than 20 years of title business experience. The new office will open in downtown Leander this spring. 6. Glenn Miller Orchestra

The Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform in concert Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2:30 p.m. in the Leander High School Performing Arts Center, 3301 S. Bagdad Road. Tickets may be purchased prior to the concert for $25 or at the door for $30. All seats are reserved. To purchase tickets, call 1-800-585-3737 or order online at www.startickets.com. The concert is presented by the Leander High School band boosters.
