3. Free oil changes

Hill Country Bible Church Northwest, 12124 N. FM 620, will partner with Christian Brothers Automotive to give single mothers one free oil change Oct. 18. The event will take place from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at all five Austin-area Christian Brothers locations, including the two in Cedar Park. 4. Drinks all around

Water intelligence

The city of Cedar Park has announced its membership in the “Water IQ” public awareness water conservation program to encourage residents to abide by the voluntary watering schedule. Residences with an address ending in an even number should water on Thursdays and Sundays, while those with odd-numbered addresses should water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Providing an opportunity for small and home-based businesses to gain exposure, the Cedar Park Entrepreneur Expo will take place Sept. 27 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Located at Austin Community College-Cypress Creek, 1555 Cypress Creek Road, the free event will feature everything from arts to health projects as well as live music, games, door prizes and entertainment. 6. Texas tradition

Barktoberfest

14. Stop, drop, run

The second annual Leander Firefighter 5k is Sept. 27 and will include an open firehouse with food, fire safety demonstrations and a display of fire engines and command vehicles. The Fun Run is $20 and the Kids K is $7. Proceeds benefit firefighter health and wellness programs. Festivities begin at 8 a.m. at fire station two, 1950 Crystal Falls Parkway. 15. Bluegrass festival

Bring your picnic blankets and spread out on the grass at Robin Bledsoe Park, 601 S. Bagdad Blvd., for the third annual Suddenlink Bluegrass Festival Sept. 27. 16. Fall fest

Celebrate the change in seasons at Leander’s sixth annual Fall Fest Oct. 3-5 in the old town square at the intersection of Brushy and South Streets. The fall festival includes a street dance with live music, cookoffs, a fine art exhibit, vendor booths, bakeoffs, games and pony rides. 17. Traffic safety

On Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. the Leander Police Department will hold a traffic safety presentation at Pat Bryson Hall, 201 N. Brushy St. As part of the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Patrol grant, speed and intersection safety will be discussed, along with stopping distances and distance traveled at different speeds. Best Party Ever

The Leander Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet is Sept. 27 from 6-10 p.m. at Reunion Ranch, 850 CR 255 in Georgetown. Dubbed the “Best Party Ever,” the Hollywood-themed event will feature live music, champagne, silent auction and a $10,000 vehicle voucher raffle. 21. Miles of smiles

The Texas Mission of Mercy Dental Program, which provides dental care for those that cannot afford it, will host the Williamson County event in Leander Sept. 26-27. Patients will register at Rouse High School, 1501 CR 271, before being bussed to the Leo Conference Center. The organization is seeking volunteers for a wide variety of tasks.
