CEDAR PARK

1. Simply en fuego

A new breed of cuisine is now available in Cedar Park. Sushi Caliente, 202 Walton Way, has taken traditional Japanese dishes and added Mexican ingredients to create spicy dishes. The restaurant opened in early February with a limited menu, which will expand to fit demand. Hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. For more information, call 294-4143.

2. Another banking option

Map for Impact Cedar Park and Leander, February 2008Comerica Bank, 810 E. Whitestone Blvd., Ste. C, celebrated Jan. 26 with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony. The full-service bank is open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday. It is the second Comerica Bank in the Cedar Park area. 3. Keeping Texas alert

Roaster’s Coffee Haven opened in mid- January at 2011 Little Elm Trail, Ste. 110. The locally owned and operated business roasts its own coffee once a week to guarantee freshness. The shop also offers milkshakes, smoothies and homemade bakery items. Open from 5 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Roaster’s has free wireless internet and a drive-through window. For more information, call 506-9592.

4. Sub station

Thundercloud Subs, 700 E. Whitestone Blvd., Ste. 200, opened Feb. 4 near It’s a Grind. Thundercloud submarine sandwiches can be ordered at www.thundercloud.com for in-store pickup. The sandwich shop is also available for catering. For more information, call 259-8815.

5. Industrial park

SLR Design has announced a $22 million dollar industrial project titled Whitestone Business Park, which will be located at the corner of Toro Grande Boulevard and FM 1431. Phase one of the project will include 150,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use industrial space and will reach 252,000 sq. ft. at the completion of the project. Construction is expected to begin in June. 6. Under new ownership

The Domino’s at 309 S. Bell Blvd. is now under new ownership. The pizza shop was corporately owned but is now locally owned and operated. Open for dine-in and delivery, call 651-3512 or visit www.dominos.com for more information.

7. New stores in 1890 Ranch

1890 Ranch, located at the corner of 183A Toll and FM 1431, adding more retail and several dining options. Gold’s Gym and Bealls department store are under construction and will be completed by July. Academy Sports + Outdoors will begin construction in March, with Mardel, a Christian book and supply store, Hobby Lobby and Hemispheres, a furniture store, to follow suit in April. New eateries in the Ranch include Carl’s Jr., Buffalo Wild Wings and Chick-fil-a, which will all begin construction by the end of February. 8. Vitamins and more

General Nutrition Centers, a nationwide retailer of nutritional supplements and vitamins, opened a new store at 1890 Ranch, 1335 E. Whitestone Blvd., Ste. E400. Cedar Park’s third GNC opened Jan. 7 and is open from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 528-1746.

9. Classic barber

Bringing back the classic barbershop atmosphere, Rooster’s opened in early January at 2011 Little Elm Trail, Ste. 104. Catering specifically to male customers, the barbershop offers haircuts and full-face shaves with a seven-step process. After the shave, relax with a cold beer. Rooster’s is open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment. For more information, call 258-3300.

10. School carnival

Hoping to start a new tradition, Summit Christian Academy will hold the first annual Spring Round Up March 1 at 2121 Cypress Creek Road. The event is open to the community and will feature game booths, moon jumps, a batting cage, live music, silent auction, food and more. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children and $10 for a family of four.

11. Corner store

Red Onion Market is a locally owned and operated grocery store opening in March at 1201 N. Lakeline Blvd. Its focus is on high-quality produce and meats. 12. Health care

Scott & White is bringing its circle of care to more people in Cedar Park with the opening of a new clinic at 12129 FM 620, Ste. 600E. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Jan. 25 to celebrate. 13. Library changes

14. Ready to rule

The Cedar Park Municipal Court, 911 Quest Parkway, has a new associate judge. Daniel R. Gonzalez was sworn in Jan. 16.

15. Health care option

A new Austin Regional Clinic is scheduled to open Feb. 18 in the Cedar Park Regional Medical Plaza, 1401 Medical Parkway, Building B, Ste. 220. 16. Stable factor

Located at Deer Shadow Farm, 23650 Round Mountain Circle, Dream a Dream Therapeutic Horsemanship began therapeutic riding lessons for people with disabilities in January. Dream a Dream is certified by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association and is one of more than 700 riding centers in the United States. 17. Tutoring time

The first Sylvan Learning Centers in Williamson County will be located in Leander next to Como’s Italian restaurant, 901 Crystal Falls Parkway. 18. Start pedaling

BMX racing is in Leander at Building Champions Raceway, 711 CR 269. It opened Jan. 1 and offers both BMX and motocross racing. The track is open Saturday for practice 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday for races starting at noon. The cost is $6 per practice session and $12 to race. 19. Open wide

Crystal Falls Dental, a family and cosmetic care dental clinic, opened in late January at 500 Crystal Falls Parkway. Dr. Thomas D. Ince offers “people hours” instead of “dental hours” with appointments available on most Saturdays and as late as 7 p.m. on weekdays. Road extension open

Ronald W. Reagan Boulevard is now fully operational. On Feb. 1, the segment between FM 2243 and Hwy. 29 opened, completing the 4.1-mile stretch of four-lane divided highway from FM 2243 to Hwy. 29. The $14.6 million project began in January 2006 and was completed on schedule. Ronald Reagan North, which extends the roadway from FM 3405 to RM 2338, is expected to be completed this summer.

21. Get ready for summer

A Home Outdoor Garden Show from
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. March 1 at Leander High School, 3301 S. Bagdad Road, will feature landscape designs, equipment, plants, food and prizes. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children under 12.
