Construction is not expected to start until January 2009. Phase two of the project calls for traffic lights at CR 271 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard and will be funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation to the city. There is no timeline for phase two.

Design is 99.5 percent complete, and the city of Leander is in the final stages of acquiring the right of way to expand Bagdad Road to a five lane roadway north of Old FM 2243. The project includes intersection improvements at the convergence of Bagdad Road and Old FM 2243 to allow traffic to pass through more quickly. City Engineer Wayne Watts said the city hopes to pair the project with the East Crystal Falls Parkway project to save money on the bidding process. Construction will likely begin in January 2009.
