Updates on Main Street, Brushy Creek Road, the intersection of Cypress Creek Road and US 183, the intersection of RM 1431 and Lakeline Boulevard, RM 1431, East Crystal Falls Parkway and Bagdad Road
Main Street - Cedar Park
To provide better access to the city’s new recreation center, Main Street in the Cedar Park Town Center will be extended from Cherry Creek Lane to Discovery Boulevard. The project consists of one 24-foot wide pavement section with two lanes that will later be expanded to a four-lane road with a raised median. Construction began in August and is expected to be complete in January 2009.
Brushy Creek Road (Toll 183A to Parmer Lane) - Cedar Park
Designs call for Brushy Creek Road to be widened from the existing two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with a raised median. Construction on the project is estimated to begin in February 2009 and should reach completion in February 2011.
Cypress Creek Road / US 183 intersection - Cedar Park
A right-turn lane from eastbound Cypress Creek Road to southbound US 183 and the lengthening of the westbound left turn lane to southbound US 183 will go under construction in December 2008. The northbound US 183 right-turn lane to eastbound Cypress Creek Road/Brushy Creek Road is included in the project as well. The project should be completed by March 2009.
RM 1431 / Lakeline Blvd. intersection - Cedar Park
This project consists of the construction of a right-turn lane from southbound Lakeline Boulevard to westbound FM 1431. Construction is estimated to begin in December 2008 with an anticipated completion date of March 2009.
FM 1431 - Cedar Park
Realignment of FM 1431 between Trails End Road and Vista Oaks Drive is on schedule and should be completed by August 2009. Asphalt paving work is continuing, and all utilities have been moved.
East Crystal Falls Parkway - Leander
Plans are complete for phase one of the East Crystal Falls Parkway project that will transform the roadway from a two-lane road into a four-lane, divided roadway from US 183 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Construction is not expected to start until January 2009. Phase two of the project calls for traffic lights at CR 271 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard and will be funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation to the city. There is no timeline for phase two.
Bagdad Road - Leander
Design is 99.5 percent complete, and the city of Leander is in the final stages of acquiring the right of way to expand Bagdad Road to a five lane roadway north of Old FM 2243. The project includes intersection improvements at the convergence of Bagdad Road and Old FM 2243 to allow traffic to pass through more quickly. City Engineer Wayne Watts said the city hopes to pair the project with the East Crystal Falls Parkway project to save money on the bidding process. Construction will likely begin in January 2009.
