The City of Cedar Park is taking steps to make it easier for residents to conserve water. On August 13, the City of Cedar Park announced its membership in the "Water IQ" public awareness water conservation program, which is run by the Texas Water Development Board. Representatives from The City of Austin and the Lower Colorado River Authority were on hand to celebrate the partnership.

"When it comes to saving water, we're all in this together," Cedar Park Mayor Bob Lemon said. "We wanted to make it easier on citizens and businesses. That's why we introduced similar watering guidelines between our neighboring communities. With the tremendous growth happening in Central Texas, Water IQ will help inspire smarter use of our water supply, which we all share."

The partnership is meant to raise awareness for Cedar Park's voluntary water schedule. Residential customers whose address ends in even numbers should water their lawns on Thursdays and Sundays, while those with odd-numbered addresses should water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Commercial customers are encouraged to water on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The plan matches the mandatory watering schedule employed by the City of Austin.
