The final Leander Independent School District shelter for Hurricane Ike evacuees closed Sept. 15.

About 70 evacuees staying at Rouse High School were transferred to the Austin Convention Center.

“I want to congratulate everyone in the Leander ISD for pitching in and helping our neighbors from the Texas Gulf Coast,” said LISD Superintendent Bret Champion.
