Cedar Park officials celebrated the topping out of the city’s Community and Recreation Center Sept. 25 by signing the last beam to be placed on the structure.

An evergreen tree was temporarily placed on top of the building’s frame to symbolize growth and good luck.

Stephen Thomas, councilman and mayor pro tem, signs the last beam placed on the city’s rec center. Councilmen Matt Powell, Stephen Thomas, Cobby Caputo, Lowell Moore and mayor Bob Lemon attended the topping out ceremony. An evergreen tree was placed on top of the building’s frame.

The 50,000 sq. ft. center, 1435 Main St., is scheduled to open July 2009. It will include a double gym, cardio equipment, an elevated walk/jog indoor track and community rooms. Voters approved construction of the center as a part of the 2007 bond package.
