Tradition key to restaurant’s classic Italian dishes
Reale’s (re-?l'-eez) Pizza and Café is steeped in history and heritage, which manifests in the unbelievable quality of their food.
We ordered the 10” Ala Reale Pizza ($11.00). The crust was crispy and the flavors of the sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon and sauce make this the best in town according to this critic and there was plenty to take home.
We also ordered the Chicken Parmigian ($13.25). The chicken is fresh not frozen or processed. The cheese and sauce were excellent, not too spicy, but blended so that the flavors are tasted. It is served with spaghetti and a homemade marinara sauce.
In addition to the pizza with 16 different toppings available, the menu includes chicken prepared eight different ways, ten different pasta and baked entrees, Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Alfredo and Linguine with red or white clam sauce, four calzones, eight subs, seven different salads, and 11 different appetizers, all prepared with fresh ingredients.
Also available are children’s items, a complete wine list and ample dessert choices. And that’s just the lunch menu!
This is a true family restaurant with beginnings dating back more than twenty years. When we asked Gino Reale, the owner and manager, about its history, he directed us to their website: www.realespizzaandcafe.com.
In the beginning, there was father Bob who did the marketing, mom Marie who was the chef, sister Rena who was the waitress, brothers Sal and Jimmie who were the pizza men and Gino was the dishwasher.
For dinner, Gino’s favorite is Seafood Ala Diavola prepared according to Mom’s traditional recipes: fresh shrimp, scallops, mussels and baby clams, sautéed in olive oil and garlic, finished in a spicy marinara sauce and served over linguine ($17.25).
He also is proud of his Pork Chop Italian Style: two grilled pork chops topped with roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms served with a side of spaghetti marinara ($15.95). The dinner menu includes several steak and veal items. They also do catering.
Reale’s Pizza and Café is a restaurant that specializes in ambiance and quality, so it is best saved for a night when you have time to sit and enjoy your meal rather than dashing out the door. Reale’s is worth the wait.
A place you will remember and will return to many times. Ciao!
