1. New Stores in Shopping Center

  • The Anderson Arbor Shopping Center at 14435 US 183 N. has added to their center.
    • WineStyles, a national franchise, opened its first store in Austin. WineStyles organizes its wine by color and style, instead of by varietals and region, simplifying the wine buying experience for consumers. Most of its wines are priced at or below $25 per bottle. 331-WINE
    • Enjoy Asian food prepared and made to order at Pei Wei Asian Diner, now open. For take-out, call 996-0095.
    • Red Robin Restaurant opens March 5, and will donate 50 cents for every burger sold during the first week to the Miracle League. 249-8902
    • Texas Roadhouse is famous for their ribs and is now open. 336-7427

2. Business Office to Open

Set to open this spring, Research Park Place will include 250,000 sq. ft. of office space. The location will be next door to Research Park which is home to such businesses as Lennar, Emerson, Cyber Trade, Motive, Tyco and Solectron. For leasing information contact 474-9900.

3. Martial Arts Academy Opens

Now open at 9308 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin Karate Academy offers family-oriented classes for ages 4 and up. Children ages 4 to 7 can enjoy Fit Kid Tiny Tigers classes while moms increase safety awareness with Women’s Self-Defense. Adult Martial Arts and Boot-Camp Kickboxing classes are also available. Anniversary Celebration

This year marks the 50th Anniversary for United Heritage Credit Union. The Credit Union began in 1957 as a Military Federal Credit Union with only eight members and $40 in deposits. Ground breaking ceremonies will occur at three new branch locations soon. Reunion and community day events are planned during the year for members. 4. Liberty Fitness

5. Café To Offer Varied Menu

Coming soon to the Arbor Walk shopping center, Mimi’s Café blends several styles of cuisine to make their menu. Mimi’s expects to begin serving their breakfast, lunch and dinner menu April 12 at 10515 N. MoPac. For information or to inquire about job opportunities, call 241-0309.

6. Silver Creek Restaurant

Salsarita’s, located in Silver Creek Center at 4101 W. Parmer Lane, is now open offering made-to-order fast food and catering. Call 492-8911.

7. Mexican Restaurant Opens

Don Luis Super Tacos & Cafe opened recently near MoPac and Parmer Lane at 12408 FM 1325. The restaurant specializes in hand rolled, homemade flour tortillas, but also offers a full menu of South Texas food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are open Tuesday - Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For takeout call 836-8006.

8. New Austin Fitness Facility

World Gym has opened in the old Randall’s grocery location at 1700 W. Parmer Lane. The gym is now enrolling members. For membership information, call 835-5000.

9. Keeping it local

Austinville, located at 1326 N. US 183, in front of the Main Event on the north bound access road, will be home to Amy’s Ice Cream and Freebirds World Burrito. At 1,250 sq. ft., Amy’s Ice Cream will also have an outdoor dining area surrounded by trees. The closing on the property took place Feb. 20 with Amy’s anticipating an August opening. Only Austin owned-and-operated businesses will move into Austinville.

10. Graphic Arts Business

Now open, Trinity Arts Company specializes in hand-drawn and computer graphics for architectural marketing, Web sites and presentation.
