Concordia University Texas announced the addition of Daniel Huntley to its staff as the new Athletics Director.
"Daniel's professional and personal background will provide proven value-based leadership to Concordia's athletic department that will be critical to the department's contributions to the institution's mission as we seek to develop Christian leaders," Dr. Alan Runge, Concordia University Texas Provost, said. "We look forward to seeing Daniel build upon and continue Concordia's recent athletic successes as well."
Prior to joining Concordia University Texas, Huntley served as the director of intercollegiate athletics for The University of Texas at Brownsville. Huntley transitioned the university's athletic program from National Junior College Athletic Association standing to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics standing, secured funding to support additional sports programs and oversaw all athletic department functions. Before that, Huntley was the assistant director of athletics at Northland College in Ashland, Wis.
"I hope to maintain the high level of integrity, competitiveness, servant leadership and student success attained by so many Concordia student athletes," Huntley said. "I will challenge and engage my student athletes by connecting them to community programs and partners that will allow them to learn outside of the classroom, court, arena or field, as well as set high academic standards and goals."
Huntley holds a master's degree in education from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. and a bachelor's degree in health sciences with a sport science emphasis from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.
He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators.
Huntley will assume the duties formerly held by Linda Lowery on July 30. Dr. Bill Driskill has provided interim leadership since December as the acting athletics director in addition to his role as faculty advisor.
