Changes Salon and Day Spa opened two years ago, in a charming yellow house on Harris Street. Changes is a full service salon providing facials, massages, body wraps, hair removal, hair services, skin care, air- brush tanning and eye lash extensions and tinting. It was appropriately named “Changes” for several reasons.

“I opened the salon when a lot of change was happening in my life; a new marriage and opening my own business,” owner Jamie Hegar said. “Change can be both physical and interpersonal, and when people come in here they sit down and are ready for a change.”

In December, Hegar added a boutique to the front of her salon stocked full of clothing, shoes, handbags, home décor and gifts.

“When a woman comes in here, she has already arranged for a babysitter and usually gets more than one service,” Hegar said. “Time is valuable; people can’t always go to the malls anymore, so why not have it all? A lot of time is spent at a salon, so while people are here, they can also pick up a gift. It’s all about convenience.”

Along with running her business, Hegar has also found time to create a body wrap labeled Evolution.

“I worked with a lab for three months doing research and formulating products,” Hegar said. “It is a detoxifying, cellulite reducer with a guarantee loss of five inches.”

Another feature at Changes is their pedicure service which is done in a private room – men need not be embarrassed. Clients sit in a massaging chair with sanitary features not available in most salons.

“It is sani-jet pipeless technology, so it does not reuse the water from one client to the next, limiting the risk of bacterial infections,” Hegar explains. “We also don’t reuse toe separators or pumice stones.”

Pumice stones can be kept at the salon where they are thoroughly dried and kept for regular clients’ next pedicure or sent home for personal up-keep.

“I love to make other people feel good about themselves,” Hegar says. “We pamper our clients with high end services at reasonable prices in a quaint atmosphere.”

Evolution- a detoxifying body wrap

Created by owner Jamie Hegar, Evolution was launched in April 2005. Hegar worked with a lab for three months to create a high quality body wrap that reduces cellulite and guarantees a loss of five inches.
