In 2003, the Round Rock City Council set a long-term goal to attract retail and medical facilities. In our inaugural issue two years later, we reported on development along University Boulevard in Round Rock. The big news then was the openings of IKEA, Scott & White University Medical Center, Seton Medical Center Williamson and the Round Rock Premium Outlets.

Forethought and a vision in Pflugerville to provide water for a fast-growing community was initiated in October 2001 with an engineering study. Lake Pflugerville will provide water to citizens through at least 2040. It is also a place for sports activities and community events such as the Pfirecracker Pfestival.

September marks our third anniversary at Community Impact Newspaper. Our lead stories again focus on the newest Round Rock City Council goals and expansion of uses for Lake Pflugerville.

With the growth and progress of both cities, we had plenty of information to include in Connected, our annual community guide, which is inserted in this issue. You will find information on the area that will be helpful throughout the year.
