General Manager's Note - May, 2008

A term we talk about here is the smart reader. If you are reading our paper, chances are good that you are more educated about your community and have been able to form opinions about the issues that affect you.
Taking this thought a little further, some of the issues we cover in this month’s issue include the May 10 ballot items. This election is an opportunity to share your view of the propositions, whether you are in Pflugerville voting on the new recreation center, new city hall or expanded library, or if you are in Round Rock voting on annexation into the ACC district or amendments to the city charter. There are also contested city council elections in both cities and we have reported each candidate’s priority issues and provided their contact information again this month on page 15. City leaders partially understand the direction the community would like to go based on voting results, so this is your chance to be heard.
It is important to understand more about transportation projects that may affect your daily commute, so this month we have an update on Pflugerville projects with a detailed map to show which projects impact your route.
We are also featuring a handy summer camp guide with various activities for your children. If you discover any camps that your children enjoy that are not covered in the guide, please let us know. Our stories and special features are more constructive for everyone when we get your input.
