1. School’s in session
The Round Rock Higher Education Center is now officially open. The new campus will bring a new street name; Chandler Road will be University Drive, according to city officials. The Center is a collaborative effort of Texas State University-San Marcos, Austin Community College, and Temple College at Taylor.
It provides programs such as the English Department’s Technical Communication class, unique because of its combination of writing, communication, and web design.
Through their graduate program they offer an exclusive counseling program in their on-site clinic. The fee for a counseling session is based on donations and is conducted by students studying to be licensed counselors.
Fall enrollment for Texas State is expected to be 1600 students, ACC’s enrollment is expected to be 1000 students. More information is available at www.rrhec.txstate.edu.

6. Serious about pizza
The Brooklyn Pie Company opened its doors to Round Rock Aug. 18 and is already looking to expand. All of their pizzas are made from scratch with meats and cheeses coming all the way from New York and Chicago. For pizza that is BIG and FAST, with in-your-face, but friendly service - just like in New York, visit Mark, Derek, Christina, and Ryan in the Vintage Plaza of La Frontera.
7. Classic Auto Group
Classic Auto is adding a building to its family. Honda’s building is projected to be complete December, 2006. The present Honda building will have minor remodeling and Classic Hyundai will take its place. Classic Toyota opened its impressive new building in May, 2005.
