A new spa for girls, The Party Image, opened Nov. 1, in downtown Round Rock. Owner Lesli Prine conceptualized a spa for girls to have parties and be pampered. 2. Add some Zen to your Life

Zenlife Academy, a martial arts, cheerleading and fitness center, will have its grand opening Saturday, Dec. 10, at Picadilly Court in Round Rock behind Leif Johnson Collision Center. The academy has a real Dojo room, yoga, pilates and budokon. At the opening, Majic 95.5 will be on-site from 2-3 p.m. and toys will be collected for needy children in Austin. 3. Don’t Forget

Christmas Family Fun Night on Main Street is Friday, Dec. 9, from 6:30 p.m. - midnight. Free hot dogs, hot chocolate, Santa Claus, carolers, games and more. Admission is free. For more information call Cath Martel at 341-3342.

Recently Round Rock was named one of the safest cities in the United States. The Morgan Quitno Press conducted a study of 369 cities with populations of at least 75,000 and Round Rock ranked eighth. No other Texas city was ranked in the overall top 25 category.

4. Shopping Center Bulking Up

Hester’s Crossing Shopping Center houses the new Gold’s Gym and this spring will have tenants that include Tan-It-All, City Blends Smoothies and Sports Nutrition, Precision Cleaners, Jersey Mikes (sandwich shop) and Grapevine Market. The center is still waiting to fill a large restaurant space.

Catching the Train

Williamson County Commissioners voted Nov. 15, to join the Austin-San Antonio Intermunicipal Commuter Rail District and appointed Pct. 1 Commissioner Lisa Birkman to the board of directors of the district. The board adopted a route known as the Locally Preferred Alternative comprised of 110 miles between Georgetown and south San Antonio with 15 stations, three of which are in Williamson County. The County paid $49,000 to join the organization using surplus road district funds.

5. Not Just Coffee

Renaissance Coffee Club opened in the Sky Ridge Plaza Nov. 3. They offer gourmet coffees, teas, smoothies as well as lunch menu items that include soup, salads and sandwiches. The European café will join Brook Mays Music Co. to host a Christmas concert, Dec. 20, beginning at 3 p.m. The Renaissance will serve complimentary coffee and sweets. Get Out and Vote

The Round Rock City Council approved the runoff between Place 6 candidates, Ted Williamson and Sharon Izzo, for Saturday, Dec. 17. The early voting period runs through Dec.13. Of the 6,882 votes Williamson received 41 percent and Izzo 32 percent in the Nov. 8 election. Visit www.williamson-county.org, for voting locations.
