1. New Restaurant, Retail and Spa
Plucker’s Wing Factory and Grill, an Austin founded restaurant specializing in buffalo wings, will be opening off IH 35, March 20. The Wing Factory has two other Austin locations, but this will be its first in Round Rock. Allen’s Boots and Spa Aloha will also be opening soon in the same center.
Games of Texas 2006
Round Rock has partnered with Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Brushy Creek MUD, Fern Bluff MUD and Williamson County to host the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s Games of Texas in July 2006 and July 2007. The seven day competition will bring more than 40,000 spectators to the area and have an estimated economic impact of $10 million each year. The Games of Texas is the largest multi-sport event in Texas with 10,000 athletes competing. For more information, visit www.taaf.com/gamesoftexas.
2. O’Connor Extension Open House
The Texas Department of Transportation and Williamson County will host an open house for the proposed extension of O’Connor Road at the Brushy Creek Community Center, 16318 Great Oaks Drive, Tuesday, March 7. All interested citizens are welcome to provide input, as well as verbal and written comments between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. All comments received by March 17 will be included in the official record of the Open House.
3. New Retirement Living
Parkwood Meadows Gracious Retirement Living will open this summer. The new independent retirement living center off Chisholm Trail across from Putt ‘n Funn will house 116 units. The new retirement center will have a billiard room, library, craft and activity room and an exercise room. For more information, call 255-0886.
4. Women’s Business Expo
The Alternative Center for Hair Replacement for Men and Women will be hosting a Women’s Business Expo, Saturday, March 4 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. at the Kinningham Recreation Center on North Gattis School Rd. Half of all proceeds and all donations will go to the cancer society. There will be live entertainment, booths and drawings. Contact Carolyn Maulde at 989-1122 for more information.
5. Daffodil Days Festival
The Round Rock Senior Center Foundation will host the 11th Annual Daffodil Days Festival Saturday, April 1 at the Round Rock Senior Center from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. There will be arts and crafts vendors, music and festivities. 6. New Salt Lick
A new Salt Lick restaurant will be built in Round Rock next to the Dell Diamond early next year. It will have weathered limestone, rock patios, windmills, splitwood fences and a children’s play area. The owner, Scott Roberts, is also talking with Leander officials to lease land there, as well. The barbecue restaurant has three locations in Texas; Driftwood, Davenport Village and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
7. New Church
Hope Bible Fellowship moved to a new and larger home at the corner of Great Oaks and Stonebridge Dr. off RM 620. The property includes a 10,000 sq. ft. church facility on 3.5 acres of land.
