1. Flea Market
A flea market with everything from garage sale items to specialized one-of-a-kind items will be Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The American Legion Auxiliary Flea Market will be at the American Legion Hall, 1000 Georgetown St. Inside spaces can be rented for $25 and outside spaces are $7 each with no entry fee. 2. Chili Cook-Off
Come and try unique chili created by dads and daughters at the Father/Daughter Chili Cook-off and Carnival Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lakeview Pavilion in Old Settlers Park. Judges from the Round Rock community will begin judging at 3 p.m. The cook-off is free and carnival tickets are four for $1 or 25 for $5. Proceeds will benefit the Girl Scout financial aid program and the Girl Scouts Old Settlers Service Unit. Contact Linda Cudmore at 350-0873 for more information.
3. Casino Night
The Round Rock SERTOMA Club will sponsor its 20th Annual Casino Night Friday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at Old Settlers Park. Tickets are $20 per person and entitle you to food and drinks, three hours of gambling, a silent auction and a raffle. Proceeds will go to Blue Santa and other SERTOMA charities. 4. New Starbucks
Starbucks is building a new location at the corner of Hwy 79 and IH 35 replacing the Hangers Cleaners building. Plans call for an early December opening.
5. Go Beyond Banking
IBMTEXAS Credit Union has taken on a new name, Amplify, and a new look. The credit union will open a new flagship branch at 115 Sundance in La Frontera next to Mongolian BBQ Oct. 10. Traditional teller counters have been removed and customers will find a hospitality cart, wi-fi and employees using wireless technology. Amplify will hold an unveiling event at the new branch Oct. 10-28, with door prizes and other items given away daily. Call 836-5901 for more information.
6. Your Neighborhood Market
A new market will offer a fresh meat market, a deli, pastries, Seattle’s Best coffee and specialty beers at 1920 Sam Bass, Ste. 7. Beginning in November, Elia Saadeh will open the Red Onion Market. Saadeh has experience in grocery markets in Cedar Park and New York.
7. Bake a Difference
The Scholarship Committee of the Williamson County Association of Realtors will host a “Sweets for Scholarships” evening Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1205 Sam Bass Road. Each entry ticket is $12 for all you can eat chocolate and to vote for the “People’s Choice” award. Sponsorships are available for tables, paper and beverages. 8. Rehab Relocation
In September Easter Seals Central Texas moved their Round Rock Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic to 2120 N. Mays, Ste. 110 next to Fuddruckers and Round Rock Cinema 8. They provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy and service coordination for children and adults. The formal grand opening celebration will be Friday, Oct. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call 310-2160 for more information.
9. Added Spice
Texas Spice Company, Inc, which specializes in cooking spices and custom blending, has added a retail store next to their location at 2713 Sam Bass Road. Shoppers will have an opportunity to buy spices, salsa, barbecue sauce, coffee, teas, soups, as well as unique gift baskets including Longhorn and Aggie baskets. 10. Center at Cat Hollow
A new retail center will open off RM 620 between Great Oaks Drive and O’Connor Blvd next to the new US Post Office. Tenants include Pizza Hut, Nail Shop, $1.99 Cleaners and Verizon Wireless. For more information about leasing, call 480-9800.
11. TxTag Booth
TxTag will be giving away free toll road TxTags at the Main Street Artisan Stroll October through December the first Thursday of every month. Representatives will be located on the corner of South Mays and Main St.
12. New Scrapbook Store
Memories R Us, LLC, opened their doors Sept. 1, and held a grand opening celebration Sept. 16, at 3750 Gattis School Road, Ste. 500. The scrapbook store provides scrapbook supplies, classes, weekend crops, private parties, frequent buyers club, gift registry, gift certificates, a die-cut center and more.
