1. Pecan Plaza

Park Avenue Cleaners is the first business contracted in the new Pecan Plaza just east of the intersection of Pecan Street and Windermere next to Sonic. Other businesses out for signature agreements are Edward Jones Investments, EZ Money, Verizon Wireless and Little Caesar’s Pizza. The first stores will be opening by the end of the year. 2. Assistant Economic Development Director

Tracy Wilson was recently hired as the new assistant economic development director to work with Charles Simon, economic development director. Wilson worked previously with Best Western of Corpus Christi. Both Wilson and Simon work out of their new office located at 203 W. Main St. in downtown Pflugerville.

3. Old Town Holiday Stroll & Parade

The Downtown Planning Committee will host the Old Town Holiday Stroll and Christmas Parade Dec. 9. The stroll will consist of a sidewalk sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., pictures with Santa, a car show from 1 to 4:30 p.m., and entertainment throughout the day. The Lighted Christmas Parade, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, will begin at dusk. Immediately following the parade, the first Pflugerville Christmas tree will be lit on the Optimist’s tree lot. 4. A Heritage to Remember

The Friends of the Pflugerville Community Library invite the public to celebrate the release of the historical book, Pflugerville: A Heritage to Remember, Dec. 10. The ceremony will be at 2 p.m., but the public is invited to the library, 102 10th St., between 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. to meet the storytellers interviewed for this oral history project.

5. Ruby’s to Roaster’s

Ruby’s Hamburgers & More, located at 1466 Grand Ave. Parkway, Ste. 100 next to Green Bamboo and PC Clinic, closed in October. Roaster’s Restaurant replaced Ruby’s and opened last month. The restaurant will offer pork, lamb and chicken on a stick.

6. Holidays at Heritage Park

Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department will host Holidays at Heritage Park Dec. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 901 Old Austin Hutto Road. There will be children’s arts and crafts, school choir concerts and free pictures with Santa. For more information, call 251-5082.

7. Sullivan’s Relocation

Sullivan’s Irrigation is moving into a new office on Heatherwilde Boulevard. The professional contractor specializing in residential and commercial sprinkler installations went to the city council and had the new property rezoned from residential to commercial in order to relocate.
