1. Historic Gift Shop Purchased
Round Rock residents Rodney and Brenda Howard recently purchased one of the community’s oldest stores, Adam’s Gift Shop, 409 N. Mays. The Howards plan to expand the line of unique items from local artists, as well as East and West coast offerings. They will continue to offer items that reflect Tuscan, French, and religious styles. Founded in 1978 by Bobbie Adams, the store has been at its current location since 1984.
2. Healing House
The Healing House of Round Rock, 206 B Laurel Drive, celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony in December. The business offers services that include massage therapy, Myofascial Release, Reiki, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Structural Integration, acupuncture and chemical detoxification. 3. Astros to Play Round Rock Express
Beginning this month, Round Rock season ticket holders can purchase tickets to the March 29 game when the Houston Astros play the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond. Regular tickets for the game will go on sale in March. The Astros last played in Round Rock in 2005, drawing one of the stadium’s largest crowds. For more information, call 255-2255 x 6.
4. Grand Reopening
Hands On Physical Therapy will host their Grand Reopening Jan. 10 with an all-day open house. Located at 301 Hesters Crossing, Ste. 160, the center will have free Myofascial Stretching from 5-6 p.m. and a free educational presentation on Men’s and Women’s Health from 7-8:30 p.m. For more information, call 310-1928.
5. Christmas Tree Recycling
Residents can recycle their Christmas tree Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the city’s Brush Recycling Center, located at 310 Deepwood Drive. The recycling center will chop the trees into free mulch. Residents who recycle a tree will receive a pine seedling to plant in return. Local businesses can also drop off their trees, and fora small fee ($15 per truckload), businesses that sell Christmas trees can recycle their leftovers, as well. For more information, call 218-5540.
6. Wine Store and Men’s Salon Open Hesters Crossing
Grape Vine Market, an Austin fine wine, liquor, beer, cigar, gourmet and delicatessen foods and catering store opened Dec. 18 in Hesters Crossing Shopping Center just before IH 35 and SH 45 N. The 11,800 sq. ft. store plans a Grand Opening Jan. 20 from noon to 6 p.m. A block party is planned with other businesses in the center participating. Grape Vine plans to have eight wineries giving wine tastings, Texas beers and other activities. For more information, contact Jamie Johnson, general manager, at 248-9933.
Loida Herrera and Truc T. La also opened Unique Men’s Salon in October in the Center. The salon offers haircuts for men or women, facials, manicures, pedicures and full-body massages. Package deals are also available. For appointments or more information, call 244-3633.
Dell’s New Vice Chair Announced
Dell announced Dec. 19 the appointment of Donald Carty to serve as the company’s Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer, effective Jan. 1. Carty succeeds James Schneider, the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Schneider will remain with the company through the end of the current fiscal year to assist Carty.
