1. Independent Living for Seniors
Parkwood Meadows will celebrate their grand opening March 18, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The event will include a ribbon cutting at 1:30 p.m. and buffet lunch. Helping Lost Pets
Georgetown Animal Outreach, a nonprofit organization, raised funds to furnish every fire station in Williamson County with a pet rescue kit. The items contained in the kit are three varying sized oxygen masks, a cat restraint bag and slip leashes for dogs. Volunteers made drawstring bags to package the kits. 2. New housing
A gated townhome community called Knotting Hill will open on A.W. Grimes Boulevard between Gattis School Road and Louis Henna Boulevard. 3. Shopping Center Opens
Old Settlers Marketplace, the new shopping center on Old Settlers Boulevard [FM 3406] was planned for completion in February. Possible tenants include a State Farm Insurance firm, a dry-cleaners, a Mexican restaurant and a bank. Space is still available for lease. For more information, call 374-4949 ext. 21.
4. Web Design Services for Deaf
Round Rock-based Peer Group Consulting at 106 S. Harris St., Ste. 220 is the first advertising agency in the U.S. to provide Web design services that cater specifically to deaf and blind audiences with Web design. American Sign Language interpretation provider Deaf Link, Inc. of San Antonio has announced a partnership with PGC. For more information, visit www.peergroupconsulting.com.
5. Investigation Firm Expands
A locally-owned and operated private investigations service opened their second office in the area last month at 603 S. Mays. She Spies Private Eye, Inc. specializes in civil and domestic matters, 24-7 surveillance and transportation of at-risk adolescents. Owner Anji Fussell offers services including background checks, criminal defense and undercover investigations, insurance claims and court testimony. 6. Mexican Food Restaurant
In March, Pflugerville-based El Rincon will open their second location at 1208 N. IH 35 in the same center as GattiLand. The Mexican food restaurant will feature the same menu and service as their first location. For more information, visit www.elrincon.biz.
Sales Team Training
The Texas State Small Business Development Center will host a learning opportunity March 28 where businesses can further employees’ training in sales. 7. New Office Park at Vista Oaks
Vista Oaks Corporate Park was scheduled for groundbreaking at FM 1431 and Sam Bass Road at the end of February. The five separate buildings of office condominiums, totaling 18,000 sq. ft., will be complete by the end of Spring 2007. The project is at the entrance of Vista Oaks neighborhood and backs up to Honey Bear Creek. Round Rock’s Spencer Godfrey Architects Inc. designed the site to accommodate the neighboring Vista Oaks neighborhood and Honey Bear Creek.
8. Mystery Night at the Library
The Friends of the Round Rock Library will host a mystery audience participation play, The Chef Who Baked Alaska, March 10, 11, 17 and 18. Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. with $25 tickets including a meal. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. with the $15 tickets including dessert. Both are held at the library. Purchase tickets at the library on 216 E. Main Ave.
RRHEC Community Service
The Round Rock Higher Education Center will host Round Rock Build, joining the community to volunteer with the Round Rock Area Serving Center March 31. Needed donations include volunteered time, supplies such as work gloves, paint and shovels, money to purchase materials and refreshments. 9. Downtown Nightclub
The Rock Room, previously Saradora’s Coffee House and Café, is now a downtown nightclub offering live music nightly that opened Feb. 17. Housed in a historic building at the corner of Mays Street and Main Street, it is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to midnight, and Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m.- midnight and Saturday from 4 p.m. -1 a.m. The owner, Ruby Ybarra plans a ribbon cutting March 24.
