1. A.W. Grimes update

A.W. Grimes Boulevard from Gattis School Road to Hwy. 79 will open June 13. Minor road improvement will continue to be made after the road is open until the end of July. Completion has been delayed by more than a year due to difficulties with getting permits to relocate the railroad from the Union Pacific line. For more information, visit roundrocktexas.gov.

2. Chiropractic shop opens

Drs. Gerard and Tabitha Liboiron opened Focused On You Chiropractic at 2201 Double Creek Drive, Ste. 1001. Their office specializes in upper cervical care, and is one of three in the state that uses the Blair technique, which includes an X-ray of the neck for specific adjustments. 3. Pampered hair care

Salon Ciao Bella at 1009 S. Mays is now open. The two hair stylists on staff will take the time to offer personal consultations, and give a massage for customers receiving a shampoo. For more information, call 733-2426.

4. Show time

In May, the City of Round Rock completed a $200,000 project to build a 1,200 sq. ft. amphitheater. Situated behind the McConico Building and the Baca Center, the theater’s grass and balcony area will seat around 2,000 attendees. 5. Learn to dance

Greater Austin Dance Academy, 3810 Gattis School Road, will open June 18 in time for summer classes and camps. The academy will offer instruction in tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and musical theater for all ages. Both summer and fall registration have already begun. Planning for special events

Essentially Weddings and Events is now serving Round Rock and the surrounding area. The owners of the wedding and event coordinating service relocated their business from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. For more information, call 248-9229 or visit www.essentiallyweddings.net.

6. Shopping center adds tenants

Several new businesses opened in the Brushy Creek Commons at 15912 RM 620.

Hair style

Hair Tex opened, offering salon services that include haircuts, perms, color, highlights, style and waxing. The owner has operated three previous salons with one in Round Rock. Call for appointments in the morning or walk in during the afternoon. For more information, call 828-4227.

Expanded cellular service

A Sprint-only dealer since opening in June 2006, Hello Wireless announced a grand reopening as they begin to offer more wireless options, including Nextel, T-Mobile, Verizon and Helio products. Hello Wireless also has a full selection of cell phone accessories for all major wireless carriers in stock and a full service computer sales and repair operations with a technician who has more than 20 years experience. Insurance group

Independent insurance agents Cameron Clint and David Espenosa opened a Farmers Insurance Group. They offer auto, home and life insurance, as well as financial advising. For more information, call 535-0407.

School involvement via the Web

Parents can now access Round Rock ISD Board of Trustee meetings via the Internet. Those interested in watching the board meetings online can go to http://207.193.126.115 and type in rrisd for both the user name and the password.

7. Medical center

Sundance Family Health Center opened in May at 1000 Hesters Crossing Drive, Ste. 100. Dr. Norma Anderson and Dr. Atsushi Matsubara are board-certified family physicians who service all ages, from newborns to seniors. For more information, visit sundancedoctors.com or call 218-4900.

8. Athletes coming to town

Round Rock, along with other Williamson County neighbors, will host the AT&T Games of Texas, which is an Olympic-style event featuring a multitude of sports for athletes of all ages. 9. Dentist relocates

Dr. John Zavala is relocating his office, Old Settlers Dental, in mid-June from Sam Bass Road to 119 E. Old Settlers Boulevard. The office offers a variety of dental services including cosmetics, dental implants and orthodontics, along with modern dental technology such as digital X-rays and diagnostic lasers. 10. Television gem

The Jewelry Channel, owned by the India-based VGL Group, will open U.S. headquarters on Michaelangelo Way, providing 135 jobs. By the fifth year of operations, the 24/7 channel plans to employ 700 people in positions ranging from call services to management. A live television studio will be on-site.

New zip code

Effective July 1, the U.S. Postal Service will add 78665 as a zip code for some current 78664 residents in response to the city’s growth. The additional zip code will allow the postal service to add routes and addresses.
