Construction of a new high school is underway off Gattis School Road in Round Rock. Cedar Ridge High School, Round Rock ISD’s fifth high school, is scheduled to open in fall 2010 with an expected enrollment of 1,200 to 1,800. The $83.9 million facility will be approximately 375,000 sq. ft. and will be able to house as many as 3,000 students when filled to capacity.
The school’s layout is not patterned after other schools in the district. Academy programs will be offered at Cedar Ridge High School just as at the other high schools and an athletic program will be available.
The number of students in the Round Rock ISD has increased by nearly 21 percent over the past five years and annual growth of 3.5 percent is expected. One new middle school and three new elementary schools are slated for construction during the 2008-2009 school year.
