Segment 4 of the Toll 130 extension opened for traffic Wednesday afternoon following a ribbon cutting at the Toll 130 and Hwy. 71 Interchange. Construction on the eight-mile stretch of road -- the final segment in the Central Texas Turnpike System 2002 Project – began in December 2005.
Bob Daigh, District Engineer for the TxDOT Austin District, said that by spring, the planned completion of Toll 45 SE will link Toll 130 and IH 35 in the Buda area, creating a route around downtown Austin.
During May and June, all drivers can travel Segment 4 toll-free. Cash customers will begin paying the full toll on July 1. TxTag account holders will continue to travel free through July and at a 50 percent discount in August.
Segment 4 includes intersections at Pearce Lane, Elroy Road, McAngus Road, FM 812, Moore Road, Von Quintus Road and Maha Loop, as well as a major interchange at Hwy. 183 and Toll 45 SE.
Toll 130 was designed to relieve congestion along the Austin-San Antonio corridor. It begins north of Georgetown and extends east of Austin to the Mustang Ridge area.

The completed 49-mile section of Toll 130 cost an estimated $1.5 billion. Right of way acquisition is underway to extend the toll road to I-10 near Seguin, for a total length of 90 miles.
