Round Rock citizens have their first opportunity to provide input into the design of a new city hall building at an informal, come-and-go open house event held by the city from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Later that day, an informational workshop and presentation will be given from 6 to 8 p.m. Both meetings are being held at the Allen R. Baca Center, located at 301 W. Bagdad Ave.

The open house is expected to include exhibits of the site plan and possible designs as well as opportunities to talk with project architects. The workshop will begin with a formal presentation by the architectural team, followed by comments from citizens.

The project, which will be designed by Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects and Architecture Plus, will include new city council chambers, administrative offices, public meeting space and a campus green area. Design work is still in the early stages.

Round Rock voters approved a bond package in 2001 that included funding for a new city hall. This is the third phase of the bond package being issued by the city.
