The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas said it was unable to fill emergency boxes for Hurricane Ike victims Sept. 15 and was in urgent need of donations.

Around 1,000 food boxes had already been distributed to shelters and individuals on Monday through the work of the food bank, located at 8201 S. Congress Ave. between William Cannon Drive and Slaughter Lane. However, staff and volunteers were unable to fill emergency food boxes being given to evacuees not staying at shelters by Monday afternoon.

Food can be donated at the food bank, as well as at the H-E-B at Parmer Lane during a donation drive Sept. 17. For more information, visit www.austinfoodbank.org.
