Coats for Kids has provided for thousands of children in need of a warm winter coat.

Now in its 22nd year, the annual Junior League of Austin community project collects and distributes coats to eligible children and teenagers in the area. Last year alone, around 28,000 coats were donated and distributed across Central Texas.

The Junior League of Austin said there is a need this year to collect warmer winter coats such as ski coats, wool coats, heavy down or parkas. Coat donations may be dropped off at all Jack Brown Cleaners locations from Nov. 10 until Dec. 3.

To organize a family, neighborhood or workplace drive, contact the School and Community Coats Dives contact the Coat Drive Coordinator at cfkcoatdrive@jlaustin.org or call 467-8982, ext 294.

Volunteers are needed during sorting week, Dec. 1 through Dec. 5, and on distribution day which will be held at the Palmer Events Center at 900 Barton Springs Road on Saturday, Dec. 6. All volunteers must be at least 15 years old during sorting week (and accompanied by an adult if under 18) and 18 years old on distribution day. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially needed for distribution day.

To get involved, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at cfkvolunteers@jlaustin.org.

Hi, Matt.

Besides donating any coats you may have or organizing a donation drive for your work, church or neighborhood, you could e-mail cfkvolunteers@jlaustin.org and let them know you're interested.
