Travis County officials are predicting a record-breaking turnout Tuesday, Nov. 4 for Election Day, following an unprecedented early voting turnout of 300,218 voters.

The county expects between 150,000 to 200,000 votes to be cast on Election Day. With 609,224 registered voters in the county, an 80 percent total election turnout would set a modern-day record.

ELECTION DAY TIPS

  1. Double-check your voter registration. Call the County Clerk Elections Division new automated phone system at 238-VOTE (238-8683) to check your registration and find your polling place. Check online at the Tax Assessor/Collector's Voter Registration web site: www.traviscountytax.org. Direct questions to the Voter Registrar at 854-9473.
  2. Verify your polling place. Voters in 22 of Travis County's 210 precincts will vote at a new polling place this election. Since voters must vote in their registered precinct on Election Day, it's important you're in the right place.
  3. Study a sample ballot. Check out the "Voter's Toolkit" that includes sample ballots, polling places and more at http://www.traviscountyelections.org.
  4. Head to the polls early if you can. The earlier in the day, the shorter the lines. Nearly half the county's voters have a pattern of voting after 3:30 p.m.
  5. Plan enough time to vote. As shown during the 12 days of Early Voting, voter enthusiasm is high. In case there is a line, wear comfortable shoes and bring something to read.
  6. Observe the rules of the polling place. No electioneering within 100 feet of the door to the polling place; no political discussions in the polling place; turn off cameras, cell phones and other electronic devices within 100 feet of a voting booth.
  7. When voting, take your time, then review your Ballot Summary Page. Voters who have questions should ask a poll worker for assistance before pressing the Cast Ballot button.
